The McKinley Community, a non-profit organization providing assistance to businesses throughout North Minneapolis who need help with repairs or cleanup as well as donation collections for food and personal care items.
Right now this organization, primarily Black women-run, is taking up a collection for Summer Fun Kits for the children of North Minneapolis, thanks to executive director Markella Smith. We all know how important and essential family summer fun is and no one should be deprived of that. Through these difficult times, Northside Strong is asking for donations to create Summer Fun Family Kits to support Northside families. Each family kit will include:
- Freeze pops
- Bubbles
- Water balloons
- Sidewalk chalk
- Jump rope
As an advocate for family adventure and, far more importantly, equality and inclusion, MinneMama Adventures will be doing donation pick-ups collecting goods for these family kits throughout the Twin Cities metro areas. Collections will start Monday, June 15 and continue through Friday, June 26. If you have kit supplies to donate, please fill out the form below and I will reach out to you with a pickup time and location in your area. Be sure to include a custom “well wishes” note that will be attached to the kits. Northside Strong hopes to receive at least 100 kits – let’s knock their socks off and help make it happen! Want to create and deliver your own kits? YES! Please do! The link to the information you need to know can be found here.
Most supplies can be found at the Dollar Store or Five Below. Prefer to give a financial donation instead so Northside Strong can purchase supplies for the kits? YES! Please do that too! Visit https://www.northsidestrong.com and put “family fun” in the description line.
