Princess and Divas Spa Fun Shop

I’m not going to lie to you and say I’m a huge fan of princesses or princessy things. I find myself drawn more to the Maleficents of the world (does that say anything about me as a person?). But I do know a good number of young kiddos who live, eat, and breathe sparkles and glitter – and who would never pass up the opportunity to try on a dress chock full of crinoline or live in a castle (OK, even I would love to live in a castle).

Being a huge fan of experience gifts instead of “more stuff,” and with three nieces who have been massive princess-lovers during their princess-loving eras, I was able to gift all three of them a day at Mall of America’s pink and sparkly kid adventure – Princess and Divas Spa Fun Shop. Nails were painted, sparkling juice was consumed, nail polish was created, tiaras and rings were worn – we were the real deal, but at an adorable level that fit their size, their wants, and their personalities.

What is it?

The Princess and Divas Spa Fun Shop is located on the third floor of the Mall of America in Bloomington and is a pink, plushy spa shop geared to children ages 3 to 16. I can attest – three times over – that ages 6 to 10 absolutely adore it. It’s by far the bright pinkest store in the mall with chairs resembling thrones, light-up mirrors, plush purple rugs, rhinestone accents, and a party room for princesses. If you’re looking for a super special way to celebrate the little love in your life, Princess and Divas Spa Fun Shop is the perfect way to do it.

Sure, you can host a birthday party here, but you can also purchase a one-time package. This is what I did with my nieces and they felt incredibly special and pampered with one-on-one treatment. The packages felt affordable and make for such a special memory. Price ranges vary depending on how much spa-ing you would like (facial, manicure, glitter hair, makeup, jewelry, you name it) and every employee we’ve had there has been kind, warm, friendly, and fun.

I love the photo below because my niece, who is making her own nail polish color with a super sweet worker, is standing in front of my other niece’s photo hanging on the wall behind her. Signs of good times all around!

Fit for what ages?

The website says it works for ages 3 to 16 and I suppose that’s pretty accurate. But ideally, in a world with magical eyes and appreciation/excitement, I’d say ages 6 to 10 are PERFECT! All depends on the child of course, but that prime princess age when feeling fancy is a treat and they don’t even know Sephora exists yet? That’s the sweet spot.

The quality of the polish, rings, and tattoos are not what you’ll get during an adult spa experience (duh) but for the affordable cost and the price of the memory, this experience is worth it 100%. What they will remember is the fluffy pink chairs, wearing a white robe and slippers, drinking “champagne” out of a flute, and being the driver of their own decisions – all while being treated like the Queen of England, tiara and all.

How much are we talkin?

We all know how much it costs to get services like this as an adult, but since the Princess and Diva Spa is catered to young kids, the experience is worth the price tag. What is nice about this place is they offer packages that range in price from $45 to $130.

My nieces are totally content with the $45 package and it made for a perfectly-priced birthday gift. The bigger the package, the more experiences you get. And the $130 package (the “BFF Package”) is actually for two kids and includes almost the whole gamut of opportunities.

Instead of listing all the prices here, it’s easiest to simply check out the Package page on their website here: https://princessdivaspafunshop.com/packages

You will pay for your package online when you book your reservation (walk-ins are limited) and be sure to bring tip money. There is also a jam-packed gift shop in the store that sells princess dresses, luxury items such as lotions lip glosses, purses and more.

Birthday party packages are also available and start at $260 for 5 children. Their princess party room is cute and the cheapest party rate gets up to 5 kids a nice spa experience plus the room for one hour. Plus you can bring in your own food and drink, which is nice. For full birthday party information and rates, visit their website here.

Want some tips?

I can’t stress enough how fun this was for my niece’s birthdays and what a unique experience it was for them. When we went, we made a night of it – I picked the girls up and we went to their favorite dinner spot (Leann Chin – talk about easy!) and ended the night with ice cream and a stop at Claire’s down the hall where they got to pick out a couple fun items off the clearance rack. I’ll go to my grave saying this: One-on-one time is SO important!

If you’re bringing little ones, plan ahead:

  • Make your reservation online;
  • Allow yourself an extra 15 minutes of time to get there, check in and shop around the little gift store and use the restroom by the East parking ramp entrance doors; and
  • Park in the right spot so you aren’t dragging those tiny legs around the biggest mall in the country. If you park in the East parking ramp, go to the Florida level and enter the main doors and go right. It’s hard to miss because it’s literally the pinkest store I’ve ever seen in my life!
  • Bring your camera. Take lots of pics. Make it special.
  • If your child isn’t super shy, this is a fun hour to let them be their own boss. They choose their tiara color, they choose their nail polish color, they choose the ring they want. It is such an easy and convenient confidence-boosting opportunity and makes them feel like they created their own special day (even though you paid for it)
  • If you don’t want the fun to end, you can walk down the hall and hit up Rainforest Cafe, Crayola Experience, blacklight mini golf, the mirror maze, Nickelodeon Universe, Fly Over America, Margaritaville, Sugar Sugar, the Museum of Illusions, Shake Shack, Cold Stone, or one of the millions of other awesome experiences inside the Mall of America (all mentioned spots cost $$).
