Do you have a Pokémon fanatic in your house? Are trading cards and video games going to be what gets top billing on your child’s letter to Santa? If you’re anything like me, you have a kid absolutely obsessed with Ash, Pikachu and their crew of goofy, animated cohorts…but there is one small problem. YOU know NOTHING about Pokémon. Like, nothing at all. So how does a parent like me shop for a child like that? Easy – head to your local GameStop store.
GameStop is a retailer that specializes in the most popular technologies and is all about bringing power to the players at a reasonable and affordable price. They offer gaming consoles and accessories, collectibles, electronics, video games and the ability to trade in pre-owned items for cash or credit. And right now, they have a great trade offer for Pokémon fans that have the new Nintendo 3DS Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon games on their Christmas list!
For me, this was a big deal because I knew I was saving money (and cleaning house), but I went in blind knowing very little about the game. The helpful store associate told me all about the game’s premise, with Professor Kukui and his assistant Lillie exploring all the islands of the Alola Region while discovering new Pokémon and meeting new friends. And the game’s release is to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pokémon. I mean, really, I remember when it first came out and was all the rage. It’s amazing to think how far it’s come and how prevalent it still is (and how old I am, apparently). Maybe you’re not in the market for a new game, but you still want to fill a stocking or two with some funky little creatures? GameStop can take care of that too with their large collection of Pokémon plushies, trading cards and even apparel. No matter what kind of fan you are, they’ve got you covered.
I walked into the store hesitant to purchase anything because, heck, I don’t know a Pokémon from a Skylander from a Rescue Bot, but GameStop had everything sectioned off so nicely, and the store associates were more than happy to talk me through the products and how to get the 20% bonus trade-in offer. I still felt like a super uncool mom because my knowledge was so basic, but I won’t feel that way when a certain 7-year-old rips open his gifts on Christmas morning! I’ll be Super Cool Mom…the Mom who knows everything there is to know about the wonderful world of Pokémon. Thanks, GameStop. I owe ya one. And so does my wallet.
