Show Some Christmas Kindness to Our Adopted Family

adopt a family angels minnesota

It’s beginning to look a lot like…well, Fall. But thunderstorms and lack of snow aside, ’tis the season that evokes joy and cheer! Christmas is my favorite season of all seasons, and it’s not because of the perfectly-wrapped presents or the sparkly glitter that hangs from the ceilings of every retailer in town. It’s not because the street I live on is absolutely knock-out beautiful, adorned with Christmas lights the moment the sun goes down. It’s not because of the tinsel or trees or cookies or reindeer or the festive seasonal music.

It’s because of kindness. The jubilation, brightness, merriness and sheer kindness that pours out of people this time of year…it gives me a literal December perma-grin. The feeling that permeates the air makes me want to spread all the cheer I can because I remember what an amazing feeling CHEER really is. And this year, I’m asking for you to help spread cheer with me!

Through the program Adopt a Family Angels-Minnesota, MinneMama Adventures has taken a local family under its wing in hopes of giving them a very merry Christmas. And what better way to do good than to take this special adventure TOGETHER.

What is bigger than “thank you”?

Well, whatever it is, that is what I would like to say to these folks who have donated already:

Their story:

family-adoption2015Brenda, her husband and their two children live in St. Paul. I’ve only spoken with Brenda through email, but her gratefulness is already overpowering. This past year has been a struggle for their family. She had to leave two jobs because her adorable daughter (17 months) has downs syndrome and has undergone two heart surgeries this past year with medical bills quickly becoming overwhelming. Her stepson (7 years) came to live with their family recently and providing for a household of four is daunting for the parents. She is starting online school this January to help care for her family.

This Christmas is especially noteworthy for them all since last year their holiday was spent in the hospital after one of the babies’ heart surgeries and little money could be spared for gifts. This will be baby girl’s first Christmas at home and her mom says it best: “I am excited this year to have her home and to be able to give her the best first Christmas ever!”

Will you help make this the best Christmas ever?

Wondering how you can help? Brenda has provided a list of items that would help raise spirits this year. Some are bigger, some are smaller, but all would be greatly appreciated. Fill out the form below and select a gift you’d be willing to purchase for the family. Find some friends or family to participate with you to purchase a gift if you chose a bigger one. No need to wrap (I’ll take care of it if you don’t want to). Something as simple as a gift card would be a day-maker! Submit the form and I will email you to schedule a pick-up/meeting time. My goal is to have all gifts to the family by December 20, so scheduled deliveries must be completed by December 18.

The greatest gift you can give this Christmas is the gift of kindness. Let’s work together to help this family celebrate a holiday that’s been a long time coming. Mother Teresa said it best:

“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”
